Danielle McClendon

Ā Danielle McClendon is a licensed clinical social worker in Indiana providing therapy to adults suffering from depression, anxiety, grief, and stress. She received a bachelorā€™s degree in psychological and brain sciences from Indiana University Bloomington with minors in human sexuality and sociology. She completed her masterā€™s degree in social work with a focus on mental health and addictions from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis in 2016. During her masterā€™s level training, she worked with young adults suffering from mental health and chemical dependency at the St. Vincent Stress Center partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient setting; and she worked with LGBTQ+ youth, families, and ally peers with Indiana Youth Group, a nonprofit organization providing safe and affirming space and services.

Since starting clinical practice in 2016 she has worked in psychiatric, chemical dependency, and academic health hospital settings in addition to primary care serving adults suffering from a multitude of conditions including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, end-of-life, and adjustment related to medical conditions. Currently, she is conducting graduate studies in sex therapy at University of Michigan with intention of becoming certified in sex therapy by American Association of Sexuality Counselors, Educators, and Therapists (AASECT), an organization renowned for its high professional standards in the field of sexual health.

Danielle works with adults and welcomes LGBTQ+ and people of color to her practice. She implements an eclectic treatment approach to ensure everyoneā€™s needs are addressed uniquely.Ā She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and motivational interviewing (MI) in order to help her clients reach their goals. All approaches are strengths-based and trauma-informed. She also utilizes elements of mindfulness in treatment. Future services will include sex therapy.
