Dr. Michele Thorne

Ph.D., HSPP

 Dr. Michele Thorne is a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children, adults, and families with a variety of mental health concerns. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kansas before pursuing her graduate studies at Purdue University. She received her Master’s Degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Psychological Sciences and went on to complete her Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship with IU School of Medicine. She has been providing therapy and mental health services since 2007 and has committed her career to helping people recognize and use their strengths to overcome life’s challenges.

Dr. Thorne has worked in a variety of settings, including serving as the Director of the Riley Consultation/Liaison Service while on faculty at IU School of Medicine. She worked extensively with children and families facing medical crises including pediatric cancer, GI conditions, and neurological conditions. She went into private practice in 2013 and has continued to provide therapy and services to individuals and families in an outpatient setting since that time. She specializes in anxiety, depression, stress management, ADHD, trauma, medical trauma, and relationship concerns. She has continued interest in working with people who experience chronic medical conditions as well.

Dr. Thorne uses a strengths-based approach to create a therapeutic, working relationship with her patients to help them make lasting changes in their lives. She uses biofeedback, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-focused CBT, as well as additional evidence-based practices to help individuals and families become better equipped to manage life’s stresses and learn to thrive despite obstacles they face.
